After serving in the military as a non-commissioned officer, Zinczenko started his career in 1991 working as an assistant editor at Men's Journal, a men's magazine launched by Rolling Stone founder Jann Wenner. In 2000, at the age of 30, Zinczenko was named editor-in-chief of Men's Health, which, under his tenure, expanded to 39 international editions in 46 countries. In 2008, he was named Ad Week's Editor of the Year. Men's Health has been nominated for 12 National Magazine Awards, and has had two wins: "General Excellence" in 2010 and "Personal Service" in 2011. It also won a Digital Ellie for Eat This, Not That!
On December 14, 2010, Min credited Zinczenko for the "#1 Most Notable Launch of the Past 25 Years". Under his watch Zinczenko oversaw the launches of both Women's Health and the affluent men's lifestyle publication Best Life, serving as Editorial Director of the two brands.
At Women's Health, he brought celebrities such as Taylor Swift, Elizabeth Banks, Ashley Greene, Brooklyn Decker, and Olivia Wilde to the cover. In 2009, Advertising Age deemed Women's Health the "Magazine of the Year." In 2011, he was named Editorial Director of both Organic Gardening and Prevention as well. He left Rodale at the end of 2012.
He was hired in 2013 by American Media CEO David Pecker to re-launch Men's Fitness, and create brand extensions for the men's lifestyle publication while also turning Shape into an active lifestyle publication and helping to oversee Muscle & Fitness. Zinczenko repositioned Men's Fitness as "more upscale," remaking the brand as "the new measure of success" (its tagline) and adding more lifestyle content. Covers have featured celebrities like Novak Djokovic, Chris Pratt, Hugh Jackman, Vin Diesel, Henry Cavill, Adam Levine, Norman Reedus, Michael B. Jordan and Liam Hemsworth. "Marketers seem to be taking note," reported AdWeek. "Men's Fitness is starting to get the kinds of high-end advertising it's never carried before, like Ralph Lauren's Polo fragrance and Ocean Pacific." Zinczenko is now Editorial Director.
